Prep & Preservation
What do we do with the bounty? Grow Youngstown will hold food preparation and preservation demonstrations that focus on simple and healthy recipes and methods for food preparation and preservation. While doing so we will also introduce new varieties and uses. If you grew up in the suburbs or city and are under 50 it's unlikely you grew your own food or had much to do with its growth at all. Yet food, and specifically fresh food, is key to our survival. Talk to anyone over 80 and you'll find them very concerned with how young people are going to get a long if they ever find themseleves without a grocery store !
This is where we'd like to draw on the knowledge we have in our communities. Those who have spent many a late summer preparing and canning food for storage or who remember some fabulous recipes for fresh garden vegetables and would like to share please let us know by emailing pp@growyoungstown.org
