The Idea
To answer the grey to green call in Youngstown’s 2010 plan by fostering local organic food production for local markets. Grow Youngstown will identify markets for CSA and urban gardeners, connect growers with urban land and network with existing organizations to offer education about sustainable agricultural practices and marketing opportunities.
The CSA Program
Grow Youngstown CSA program will link farmers and members and help the CSA with administrative tools, such as bookkeeping, contracts, newlsletters and organizational strategies. More
City Gardens
City Gardens is a community membership gardening program. Grow Youngstown intends to secure land and provide support for any preparation the land may need. Grow Youngstown promotes chemical free low input gardening. More
Prep & Preservation
Well what do we do with the bounty? Grow Youngstown will hold food preparation and preservation demonstrations that focus on simple and healthy recipes and methods for food preparation and preservation. While doing so we will also introduce new varieties and uses. More
